Spikeless Climbing Coconut Palms with Tree Climbers
Переглядів 22021 день тому
Using spikes to climb palm trees is extremely damaging to the tree, both aesthetically, physically, and functionally. Each hole from a spike is another spot that can be vulnerable to the introduction of funguses and other pests, which can have adverse effect on the Trees. Climbing without spikes is the way to go and these death-defying Hawaiian climbers show us how it’s done.

Nice I also have this one
I agreed. He need to remove the shade cloth. I use to live & work in Los Gatos, Saratoga, Sunnyvale, Campbell, San Jose for twenty plus years. I know the bay areas weather very well. Some one is giving bad advice on the shade cloth.😂 for $$$$ He must be a newcomer with new money.
My Longan & Lychee is producing fruit in Zone 8b West of Paso Robles Ca. elevation 2000. Waiting for the fruit to get bigger before I do a video on it. Choquette, Lamp Hass, Bacon, Wurtz, Nabal, Lamp Hass, Gwen, Jan Boyce, Queen, Sir Prize, GEM, Reed, Edranal, Carmen, and Don Gillogly is loaded with fruits. My tree is still young. Some of avocados trees the fruit is getting bigger. Lamb Hass, Hass, Fuerte, Bacon, Wurtz, all of those varieties is producing mature fruits on my trees. Feb.25-2023 we had snow that lasted for three days. None of my trees die or burn. Including newly planted avocado trees without protection. I have video to prove it.
Hi Gary - I am thinking about planting a couple of Mamey Sapote trees in my yard. I live in Zone 10b in the San Fernando Valley in LA County. It is fairly dry and gets into the 100's regularly during the summer, so it's not Florida-like conditions. Do you think it would work, and if so, do you recommend a particular variety? Thanks
The amazing avocado tree of Lamorinda!
Ok next time just use olive oil and the animal will come right off.
Dang, I wish I knew that before spending a solid half an hour tediously trying to save that little guy. Thanks for the advice.
Any Idea on why my bacon avocado fruit doesn’t get to a normal size? They grow about 3 to 4 oz at the most.
Awesome bro !!!
Yeah I noticed my avocado tree is loaded this year hopefully it doesn’t drop to many!
I am afraid that these trees will hold too many and get completely stressed out from it
@@ScaryHairyGary If a certain quantity are strategically culled, it might reduce the stress as you say, and lessen the trees tendency to alternate bear fruit (annually) - thus increasing the chances of bearing fruit next year. It might be worth a try.
I have noticed tons of avocados on all the trees in my hood ✌️
Seems universal this year like no other year before
Hopefully the tree will keep on chugging along and keep producing fruits
I hope so!
I wish you would make an effort to speak clearly. One third through the video and I still don't know what it is about. I'm concerned if it's bad news because I have 9 avocado trees.
I guess you can blame the teachers in my special speech class for failing both of us
Bone apple tea
Apocalypse is a word that means "the end of the world" - or something so destructive it seems like the world has ended, like the event of a major earthquake. I think u mean cornucopia or plethora
No, I mean, avocado fruitcapalypse because the worst thing that can happen for the health of an avocado tree is to have too much fruit on it and have all the energy go to the fruit to the detriment of the tree. I’ve never seen more fruit on trees this year, so I worry that the trees will suffer severely from it. Time will tell
Pretty soon they’ll be a sign no trespassing Gary !
I’m just worried that they might pass a citywide ordinance of no avocado tree stalcking in my town
Half Hass - that's a great name for it! 🤣🤣🤣
That’s a good, really funny, and memorable! 😂 lol
If you water the trunk like this long-term, would it not rot the trunk?
Maybe if you constantly watered it and kept it wet, but if it dries out regularly, I don’t think it would be a problem
Your a good man with a big heart. How many people would take the time, have the patience and the brain power to accomplish that! You should be the first recipient of the first recipient of new Reptile kingdoms, Human of the year award.
I appreciate that
Dude ur awesome. You r correct the next skin shedding all should come off. U know I've been loving the reptile vids.😃
I appreciate that!
Really great storytelling :-) Found the update: ua-cam.com/video/-4cuLOc2BNw/v-deo.html Also, is there a way to obtain a Duke seeds easily in Europe? I would love to buy a whole crate full and see what comes up.
The man behind the phone huh. Duke
I love fruits avocados 🥑 and mangoes❤
Wow have a nice Day
You too. Thanks for watching
A really cool video would be a do it yourself palm weevil treatment video. I have heard of people using a strong imidacloprid systemic such as dominion 2L plus spraying the crown. The city of San Diego surprisingly has been treating a very old strip of canary palms on Catalina Blvd that are around 100 years old using the injection method which has been working for the past few years but I am not a fan of drilling into the trunks. Atlas tree service uses a gas powered device to squirt the systemic into the dirt around the base of the trunk which really seems to work. I tell people to use Atlas tree service when there palms are being affected. Obviously it is best to do it long before you see any damage to the crown. This iconic Jubaea Chilensis in my neighborhood that is the largest nicest one I have ever seen was just killed by it.
That’s horrible about the wine Palm
@@ScaryHairyGary I knocked on the door and they had no idea and they said they were going to immediately get Atlas to come out and treat it but I think it is too late. All the palm gurus talk about this palm. My grandfather was friends with Bill Evans Sr. of the Catamaran hotel and he said Bill used to want to buy the house just for the palm. The homeowners also said they have got many knocks over the years of people wanting to buy the palm. There is a video of someone driving down Chatsworth St. in 1970 and it was big back then. It really was the nicest largest one I have ever seen.
This is great but us little old ladies need s aller options. 😂😂😂he says you can get a pallet jack 😂😂😂
We have them 80 feet plus in Florida 😂not all are created for equal however
Maybe a Spanish accent. Like some one that hits got off the boat. 😂 Love the joke
Called today 6 /19/24 no Dukes available
I have 3 of these came up mysteriously from some potting soil I had bought. How is transplanting them ? Do they tolerate it ?
Yes.
We need an update on the palm height! Just planted two fan palms this Spring, we’ve had so much rain and they’re yellow but planted in sand, but insane the amount of rain this Spring, they love it really
Why would you cut green pads?! Seeds are collecting when pods are dry and brown!!!!
Because they dry up and dehisce when ready at this mature stage. You wait too long and they break up and drop seeds before you get to them or while you are trying to collect them
Noticed that tree is getting planted in sand only , was it deliberate? Otherwise here in Cali we mostly get clay soil.
Mangoes and bananas love East County.
You must have worked on those trimming skills for a long time. A master at work! Fantastic palms, very different.
Thank you very much!
Awesome, these are definately in my top 5 plants.
Hi Gary, is there a website for their service & where can I buy the steps and equipments? Thanks!
Not that I know of
curvy cool plant
How are you going to get rid of the baby palm seedlings?
How are you going to get rid of the baby palm seedlings?
I hate them they are so invasive
great videos. I have to ask u. I have a haas avacado i grew from a seed and it got to about 2 ft in the pot and all of a sudden the leaves wilted and fell off. Now the plant is still there with a healthy trunk but no leaf growth what so ever. What can I do to promote leaf growth at this situation. Ty so much
What happened to the gordo Gregg
I need a couple of twigs
do you know if papaya would handle 110 in summer, or 30 in winter? I live about 2 hours east of you in foothills.
Ahhh, they’re my friends!!! Can’t wait to have some fresh mangoes from the tree.
Awesome mate I'm from New Zealand and I love all forms of nikau. Have you grown the chatnam island nikau form? That one is the most frost and heat hardy. It also looks immaculate in all situations, it can handle full sun too
I prefer Valencia👍when they’re fully ripping from the tree😋
Hi Gary, in your experience do Pinkerton avocados turn black or dark when ripe? Or do they stay green even when ripe?
House is humongous, and the climate is very arid around there, less than 15 inches of rain a year I bet.
Could maybe be a pileated woodpecker or other woodpecker species attacking your Tipu tree...though there usually is a bit more of a pattern. They loved my Tipu; didn't bother any of the other ~ 25 trees...nor my fruit tree orchard....
You are Awesome brother!!!
Thank you
